About Private Investment Operations (PIO) and Private Loan Servicing (PLS):

Both PIO and PLS play a crucial role in supporting AIMCo investment teams with the settlement of capital funding and distribution transactions, quarterly market value updates, monthly reporting, and the preparation of IFRS financial statements for private investments. The PIO investments span private equity, infrastructure, renewable resources, private debt and hedge funds. PLS focuses on the mortgages investment class and also provides in-house loan servicing.

This is a full-time, 4-month position from May 2026 through August 2026.

Responsibilities 

  • Process invoices and assist in the settlement of investment transactions.

  • Conduct bank and various investment reconciliations, as well as handle ad-hoc accounting or operational tasks.

  • Set up, monitor and see through, capital fundings and investment distributions, including recording the financial transactions in the AIMCo systems

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial regulations, and accounting standards to maintain the integrity of financial data.

  • Update the market value of fund investments in AIMCO systems on a monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Apply accounting principles and analyze financial data received directly from investments, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.

  • Assist in the execution of projects under the guidance of senior team members.

  • Contribute to the development of accounting procedures and establish standard operating procedures for the financial reporting of property activities.

  • Maintain the electronic filing system and provide support to the PIO/PLS analysts as required.

Our Ideal Candidate:  

  • Completed second year undergraduate studies in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

  • Proficient  with Microsoft Office applications and employs intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

  • Has exceptional attention to details and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under time pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Is a quick and adaptable learner.

  • Possesses strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and able to foster effective working relationships.

  • May have previous bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, distinguishing you from other applicants

  • Has some experience with or knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards and Canadian GAAP (ASPE)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on information presented.

  • Is curious about how your contributions fit in with your team and the overall impact

Success Measures

If you are a success-motivated student, you will be able to reflect on your time on the PIO or PLS team and be proud of how much you have learned and grown as an aspiring professional. You will deliver near error-free reports and develop a reasonable understanding of complex accounting procedures. You will learn about problem solving and be expected try to solve any arising issues in your core areas of responsibility before seeking guidance from your team members.
