Job Description:
Position Purpose:
The research assistant (RA) will assist in conducting projects that involve developing alcohol interventions using virtual reality systems and other digital tools to augment existing alcohol counseling protocols. Work activities involve participant recruitment and scheduling; conducting in-person and zoom-based research sessions and qualitative interviews/coding with study participants; participant tracking and retention; programming and managing online surveys and datafiles; and managing participant payments. The RA is expected to collaborate with project staff and faculty to maintain variable directories and other project documentation, conduct library research as needed, and assemble materials for IRB modifications and progress reports. This position requires sharing a commitment to accomplish the goals of the research lab.
This is a fixed-term position with a current end date of 12/31/2026 which may be extended based on available funding
Job Qualifications and Competencies
Education and Experience
● Required: BA or BS in data science, public health, psychology or related field with 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Required: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Google suite
● Coursework in research design and experience with research is preferred
● Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is preferred
● Experience managing databases is preferred
● Coursework in addiction, substance use and/or psychopharmacology is preferred

● Must be available to work onsite at Brown University

● One-year commitment is required, and long-term commitment preferred
