The Regional Marketing Specialist is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise.
Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
This role is aligned closely with the regional GMMs and has a significant and stretegtic role on their respective Leadership Teams, contributing to the overall strategy of the region from the marketing perspective.
This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies and flagship events that drive business growth, enhance client engagement, and strengthen Citi's brand presence. The individual will work closely with senior stakeholders across Citi and in Banking in particular, as well as members of Client Access and other marketing functions.
The candidate should have a strong understanding of the banking industry and a successful track record of budget management, client engagement planning and oversight of event execution. Strong interpersonal, communication, diplomacy and leadership skills are required to build consensus on strategy and liaise with senior members of the bank. An analytical mindset is critical to measuring program success and further developing our client tracking and monetization of marketing efforts.
In this role, you’re expected to:
- Manage all aspects of client and prospect events including: invitation process; compliance reviews; logistics; on-site client interaction; budget maintenance; gift, venue, décor, and menu selection; maintenance of salesforce.com CRM database; post-event follow-up.
- Leadership, contribution to and delivery of Global marketing projects, working with colleagues across the franchise in different regions
- Provide senior management with detailed client briefings to create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue and to incorporate into overall strategies
- Use post-event feedback to determine best practices for future events including researching and conducting competitive benchmarking
- ROI: track post-event impact on client revenues, client acquisition and client relationships.
- Responsible for region’s charitable budget.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Approximately 20% travel
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Marketing Plan: Support the definition and execution of the end-to-end marketing strategy for Banking in Asia, aligning with global strategy for banking, business objectives, and growth priorities.
- Strategic Client Events: Oversee the design and execution of strategic client events, roundtables, and sponsorships that strengthen client relationships, generate new leads, and support business development. Support and drive One Citi collaboration across business lines.
- Event Management: In close cooperation with the business and/or the Global Events Management team, manage all aspects of client and prospect events, including invitation processes, compliance reviews, logistics, on-site client interaction, hospitality, budget management, and post-event feedback and follow-up.
- Stakeholder Management: Foster strong partnership with the teams regionally, including senior management, to understand their marketing / event needs.
- Budget Management: Optimize and strategically influence manage spend across Banking marketing initiatives. Provide regular updates to key stakeholders on marketing spend, completed initiatives, and Return on Investment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal partners, fostering an ongoing dialogue around best practice sharing, process improvement, and event/ content management.
- Market Understanding: Maintain a strong understanding of the industry, competitors, and the evolving needs of institutional clients. Utilize this knowledge to develop targeted marketing initiatives working in close collaboration with senior banking stakeholders.
- Ensure a detailed understanding of marketing collateral and facilitate the production of such collateral by working closely with product marketing teams, the marketing assets team and front-office personnel.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets. Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure
- 6+ years of marketing experience in financial services, with a focus on investment banking and institutional clients.
- Documented record of success originating and managing large scale high profile client events of the highest caliber/ experience.
- Event planning experience with financial services
- Solid understanding of financial products and services
- Experience in managing and delivering for senior stakeholders across multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strict and careful attention to detail
- Ability to operate independently as well as collaborate with peers
- Ability to solve problems in a challenging and time constrained environment
- Ability to manage priorities and multi-task
- Ability to pinpoint, develop and enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success
- Ability to think strategically and analytically
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience. Additional qualifications in marketing, communications, finance, or investments will be considered favorably.
