Role Summary

Lead the underwriting service team and medical service provider network development, ensuring efficient risk assessment, high-quality service delivery, and strategic provider partnerships. Drive operational excellence, manage team performance, and support business growth through underwriting and network initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Underwriting Services Management

  • Manage and develop a team of underwriters and medical service provider (MSP) network specialists.
  • Oversee the end-to-end underwriting process for insurance policies, ensuring accurate and efficient assessment within standard turnaround times.
  • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, ensuring compliance with reinsurance and regulatory standards.
  • Review complex cases with reinsurers and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Identify and resolve process bottlenecks, especially for auto underwriting and Straight Through Processing (STP).
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for underwriting, ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Ensure team adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.

2. Medical Service Provider Network Development

  • Establish, nurture, and maintain partnerships with MSP, ensuring the network meets quality standards.
  • Regularly evaluate MSP performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Promote effective, ongoing communication between insurance and MSP to ensure seamless alignment in underwriting and service delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for network improvement to enhance service efficiency and quality.

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and develop a team of underwriters and MSP management specialists; provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Organize regular training sessions and workshops to keep the team updated on best practices and industry changes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the team to achieve goals and maintain high standards of productivity and accuracy.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align underwriting and network strategies with business objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with insurance regulations and company policies across all activities and partnerships.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by upper management.

Requirements

  • Medical bachelor’s or doctor degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in underwriting services management and hospital network management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and medical knowledge.
  • Skills: Problem analysis, customer orientation, negotiation, presentation, influence, and empathy.
  • Leadership Capability Model – Intermediate level.
