The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence. 

About the role 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader – Family Violence Services to provide operational leadership across our programs in Broken Hill. This includes the Staying Home Leaving Violence program, Catherine Haven refuge, and the upcoming Core and Core Cluster services.

This leadership role is pivotal in delivering safe, effective, and trauma-informed responses for victim survivors of family violence and their children.

The role includes advocating for clients with key agencies, fostering strong partnerships across government and community sectors, and overseeing resources, budgets, and reporting. You will carry a small caseload to stay connected to frontline practice while providing clinical supervision and mentoring to staff. A central focus is driving continuous improvement, reflective practice, and service development to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of family violence services in Broken Hill.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Broken Hill, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 6.

How you will make an impact 

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of family violence services in collaboration with the FV Program Manager Far West

  • Provide professional leadership and ensure services are safe, effective, trauma‑informed, child‑focused, and strength‑based

  • Manage case management, outreach, after‑hours responses, and refuge services, maintaining compliance with accreditation and quality standards

  • Advocate for clients with police, child protection, legal services, and other stakeholders, while building strong partnerships across government and community sectors

  • Oversee resources, budgets, reporting, and service delivery processes, carrying a small caseload to remain connected to frontline practice

  • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and coaching to case managers and outreach workers, fostering a collaborative and reflective team culture

  • Lead recruitment, staff wellbeing, performance management, and professional development initiatives

  • Drive continuous improvement through data review, practice development, and community engagement, ensuring services meet client needs and deliver positive outcomes

What you will bring 

  • Degree qualification in Social Work with significant post‑qualifying experience (essential)

  • Extensive experience in the family violence sector, including risk assessment and case management

  • Experience in clinical supervision and leading specialist family violence case management, outreach services, and/or child wellbeing work

  • Proven ability to support staff working with clients impacted by trauma

  • Strong liaison and communication skills, with the ability to consult and negotiate across agencies and the wider community

  • Experience managing or coordinating residential care settings (desirable)

  • Confident with technology, including Microsoft Office and client management systems

  • Highly developed time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work autonomously while maintaining a collaborative leadership style
