Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Requirements Engineer to join our Airbus Defence and Space  team, responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and managing requirements for complex systems. The Requirements Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure system requirements align with business objectives, leveraging tools like Cameo Modelling and the Atlassian Suite (Jira and Confluence) to facilitate clear communication, traceability, and effective requirements management in an Agile environment.

You will lead a technical team across multiple sites, overseeing system breakdown, requirements engineering, testing, and planning while ensuring high-quality deliverables. Reporting to the Chief Engineer and line management, this role requires strong decision-making, self-organization, and the ability to

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Requirements Elicitation: Engage with stakeholders (e.g., clients, end-users, Chief or Lead Engineers, developers) to gather business, functional, and non-functional requirements through interviews, workshops, and surveys
  • Requirements Analysis: Analyze and refine requirements to ensure clarity, completeness, and feasibility, resolving conflicts or ambiguities
  • Requirements Documentation: Create detailed requirement specifications, including use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Requirements Management: Track and manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle, maintain traceability between requirements, design, and testing artifacts, leveraging Cameo Modelling for traceability matrices
  • Validation and Verification: Validate requirements with stakeholders to ensure they meet business needs, documenting feedback in Confluence. Verify that requirements are testable, collaborating with testing teams to link requirements to test cases
  • Change Management: Manage changes to requirements, assessing impacts and documenting updates  for approval workflows
  • Risk Identification: Identify risks related to incomplete, ambiguous, or conflicting requirements

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a System Engineer, Requirements Engineer, Business Analyst, or similar role in systems or software development projects, with a focus on the defense or automotive industry
  • Proven expertise in system breakdown, requirements engineering, and testing
  • Experience leading technical teams and managing projects across multiple sites
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies, specifically Scrum and SAFe would be beneficial
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated work ethic
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing project demands
  • Strong communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with defense industry standards and practices
