About the Role
As the Planned Surgical Liaison Nurse, you will co-ordinate, negotiate and manage the transition of care of patients throughout the continuum. You will be primarily responsible for managing the Endoscopy Planned Surgery waiting list according to the waiting list policy and streamlining the elective admission process.
The Planned Surgery Liaison nurse will coordinate the procedure schedule with consideration for the patient's clinical urgency and equitable draw down from the planned surgery waiting list.
Aware of the Planned Surgery Waitlist Policy principles with regards to when patients are placed on the planned surgery waiting list
Liaise with surgical staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate case management of patients
Monitor elective surgery cancellations and arrange appropriate follow up
Monitor Category 1 patients to ensure they are treated within 30 days.
Manage Category 2 & 3 patients to ensure they are treated within their designated time frame set by the Department of Health
Classifications for this position will range from YU11 ($102,278.80 per annum) pro rata.

Current AHPRA Registration
Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast paced environment
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Experience in the relevant area of clinical practice
Awareness of the Planned Surgery Policy and the Department of Health requirements.
Possess advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate an ability to develop, plan, promote and market new care concepts
Understanding of pre-admission, admission and discharge planning principles
Possess sound analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills
Post Graduate Qualifications are highly desirable
Current National criminal history check or willing to obtain

About Planned Surgery
The Planned Surgery Management Team (PSMT) coordinates and case manages patients that are on the St Vincent’s Hospital elective surgery waiting list in accordance with the planned surgery waiting list policy and the Department of Health Planned Surgery Access Policy. The PSMT is responsible for the case management of all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM.
