PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Independently perform monthly sales tax filings, reconciliations and payment arrangements, as well as advance payment of income taxes and other taxes, NR4 submission etc. for Canada entities. Co-ordinating with SSC and posting payment. As part of sales tax reconciliation, there would be a need to cancel/amend invoices and general troubleshooting.
2. Handle Canadian income tax topics/transfer pricing topics/statistics Canada reports, prepare working papers of tax filing. Support various tax-related government audit.
3. Provide direction to Customer Service Representatives regarding Canadian commodity tax system compliance and problem solving.
4. Prepare account reconciliations in Blackline and Excel (where applicable) in a format that clearly explains the content and purpose of an account.
5. Conduct timely reviews and certifications of account reconciliations, ensuring that all outstanding issues are appropriately addressed and resolved.
6. Perform detailed analyses of assigned reporting line items to validate data integrity and correct account usage in accordance with IFRS and Evonik Reporting Manual.
7. Prepare, post, and review necessary account adjustments to support accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
8. Coding of expense invoices for the Canadian entity like telecom and cell phones, courier invoices, office supplies, internal order billings from/to other offices etc. Work in internal systems like IVT, SAP and similar.
9. Mail handling and monitoring of company phone calls at the Burlington, Ontario office. There would be occasional light work of administrative nature. Maintain and monitor monthly inventory reports and related reconciliations in respect of various warehouses. Assist in resolving any related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of experience in corporate accounting; familiarity with IFRS is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Hands-on experience with SAP
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams and Outlook
Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Self-driven with the ability to manage tasks independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
