Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping Absa’s Exchange Control strategy and advisory services. We’re looking for a seasoned professional to lead and support our Exchange Control function, ensuring excellence in service delivery, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Exchange Control Advisory & Training

  • Provide expert guidance and training on Exchange Control matters to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Collaborate on product development to ensure compliance with Exchange Control Regulations.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends, ensuring timely updates and training.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver superior advisory services and support to clients and internal teams.
  • Apply specialist knowledge to resolve complex queries and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders, including SARB.

Risk & Compliance

  • Monitor and report potential risks in foreign exchange transactions.
  • Ensure full compliance with Absa’s risk policies and Exchange Control Regulations.
  • Drive a culture of regulatory awareness and embed risk mitigation practices.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance technical skills and productivity.
  • Lead and supervise Exchange Control Team Leads, ensuring SLA adherence and quality output.
  • Support performance management and training interventions.

Networking & Representation

  • Maintain professional relationships with SARB and Head Office Exchange Control.
  • Represent Absa during SARB inspections and regulatory engagements.

Continuous Learning & Development

  • Stay informed on banking trends, platforms, and regulatory updates.
  • Pursue opportunities for further education and skill enhancement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a commercial discipline (NQF Level 6)
  • Minimum 5 years general banking experience
  • At least 3 years in Foreign Exchange
  • Minimum 7 years in an Exchange Control environment

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
