Raytheon is a world leader in high altitude imaging sensors. As such, we in the Advanced Product Solutions department provide the United States Government and International Partners with remote sensing systems, for time critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Our ISR Information and Intelligence Engineering group develops algorithms and software for processing, optimizing, and creating intelligence products from these sensors.

We are seeking a Senior Focal Plane Test Engineer to work on our team. As a team member, you will be working on state-of-the-art Focal Plane Array for our imaging systems with some of the most advanced capabilities available. What You Will Do

  • Generate/review focal plane array requirements.

  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot test systems, circuit boards, cables, and hardware assemblies in accordance with technical drawings.

  • Provide technical support for setting up tests at the Focal Plane lab.

  • Assemble, maintain, and repair system equipment at the Focal Plane lab.

  • Support lab testing for both Engineering and Operations. 

  • Make continuous improvement suggestions and participate in initiatives to improve productivity and process efficiency.

  • Apply computer skills to access and input data via computer interface, automated equipment, or test equipment.

  • Complete tasks and communicate effectively, both orally and written.

  • Deliver work with a keen attention to cost and schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the FPA group as well as programs, supply chain, operations, and the quality department to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in Westford, MA.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years’ of prior work experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ of prior work experience.

  • Experience with II-VI or III-V semiconductor materials and processes.

  • Experience with detector physics.

  • Experience with MS Office 365.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with design, development, and production of packages for all types of FPAs.

  • Experience with Focal Plane Array technology covering the visible through LWIR spectral range.

  • Experience with computer languages including Python.

  • Systems performance modeling using NV-IPM, SSPEED or PY-BSM. 

  • Experience with radiometrics and the ability to calculate flux levels.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
