Do you want to help HP build the most secure products and solutions, engage with customers to ensure we design future technology that meets real needs and help make the digital world a safer place? We have an exciting opportunity to join HP’s Security Lab to help drive security technology excellence, and engage strategically with customers. This role is for a senior technologist with established expertise in the area of systems security, from hardware and software architectures to operational endpoint security management, and with a good understanding of certification schemes and government requirements in the field of cyber security for endpoint device ecosystems.

Working in the HP Security Lab, you will be working at the interface of customers and internal research and development, to help drive and represent HP’s security strategy vision and roadmap. You will work closely with HP’s go to market teams to understand customer pain points and requirements, help articulate the technical start of the art, and support customer engagements to enable new technology adoption. In parallel, you will work with other HP technology strategists and business leaders to influence security technology roadmaps for the long-term. This will involve collaborating across the company, from sales and services organizations to product hardware and software R&D, supply chain, global cyber security, and research.

The position is in Washington DC, USA, co-located with HP’s US Federal business. We encourage candidates with deep technologist roots in systems security, with experience in communicating complex technical concepts, and a passion for engaging with customers. More specifically, ideal candidates will have skills in several of the following areas: 

  • A solid understanding of modern computer security architectures, from system software architectures for isolation and micro-segmentation, to hardware and firmware security architectures (across x86, ARM, …)
  • A solid understanding of operational endpoint security management, from deployment and operation, to detection and response
  • Good knowledge of zero-trust architecture principles and technology enablers
  • Experience in engaging with end-users and customer organizations to understand requirements and explain complex technical topics and the state of the art
  • Experience in cyber-security related standards activities (by the likes of NIST, ISO, ETSI, …) and industry consortium activities (such as in TCG, UEFI, DMTF, FIDO…)
  • Experience with product security evaluation, certification schemes and related standards activities (such as Common Criteria, CMMC, CMVP/FIPS, CSPN, …)
  • An ability to communicate technical cyber security and cyber threat concepts to a range of different audiences, from those familiar with the technologies to non-technical folks

The candidate will also be expected to develop and lead strategic initiatives across multiple distributed teams spanning multiple functions. As such, experience in the following will be expected

  • Developing and articulating technology strategy and process recommendation
  • Strong communication and influence skills, spanning senior executives to deep technologists
  • Program management and planning
  • Team leadership and technical mentorship
