Under our group at www.wrzhanglab.com, we focus on advancing electrochemistry, materials, and engineering as an integrated platform to build energy technologies for a sustainable and resilient future. We start from fundamental chemistry—electrolytes, electrodes, and interphases—to drive innovation in materials and address critical challenges in electrochemical, chemical, and mechanical stability at interfaces. These insights enable the development of advanced energy systems, including Li/Na batteries, flow batteries, and electrochemically driven chemical manufacturing, with scalable architectures for real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct advanced research on solid-state batteries; high-energy electrodes; electrolyte and interface for batteries; battery lifetime prediction and diagnostics via automated and high-throughput experimental platforms; electrochemically tunable materials for electronic devices.
Design and perform electrochemical, mechanical, and advanced materials characterizations.
Develop novel materials, coatings, and interfacial engineering strategies to enable high-energy, safe, and durable energy storage.
Collaborate with internal and external academic/industrial partners on joint projects.
Prepare manuscripts for high-impact journal publications and present at international conferences.
Contribute to grant proposal writing and new project development.
Mentor and supervise PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students in the laboratory.
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role / technical hands-on experience in materials synthesis, electrochemical testing, and advanced characterization techniques.
Proven track record of high-quality research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
