Quality Assurance Engineer

Role Purpose
The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) in Nepal will be responsible for ensuring that products manufactured in the region meet Unybrands’ global quality and compliance standards. The role focuses on supplier quality management, product inspection, and process improvement to strengthen quality assurance systems and reduce operational risks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while maintaining strong communication with global and regional teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Quality Management
  • Coordinate with local suppliers to maintain high standards of manufacturing, hygiene, and process control.
  • Conduct regular factory audits and in-process inspections to verify compliance with Unybrands’ quality standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance, drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and ensure timely and effective follow-up.
  • Support the qualification and onboarding of new suppliers through capability assessments and compliance evaluations.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with suppliers to promote continuous improvement and a culture of accountability.
2. Product Quality Control
  • Oversee in-process and pre-shipment quality inspections for products manufactured in Nepal.
  • Validate that finished goods, packaging, and labelling conform to approved specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Review third-party inspection reports, identify root causes for non-conformities, and ensure appropriate containment and corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintain a structured and disciplined approach to problem-solving with a focus on preventing recurrence.
3. Quality System Development
  • Maintain inspection, audit, and CAPA documentation in line with Unybrands’ global QA framework.
  • Support the rollout of global quality standards, SOPs, and best practices to regional suppliers.
  • Assist in developing practical inspection tools, checklists, and training materials to raise local supplier capability.
  • Ensure traceability, sanitation, and contamination-control processes are implemented and sustained at the factory level.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail, organisational discipline, and a commitment to data accuracy and transparency in all reporting.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a regional contact for coordination between suppliers, external testing laboratories, and Unybrands’ global teams.
  • Partner closely with Procurement, Engineering, and Regulatory functions to ensure consistent product quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Contribute actively to quality-improvement initiatives, product optimisation projects, and supplier development programmes.
  • Exhibit cultural awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly across different functions and geographies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a QA/QC function within food, pet food, or related softline manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with international organisations or export-oriented factories.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate findings effectively.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and managing multiple priorities across suppliers and sites.
  • Willingness to travel domestically for supplier visits and inspections as required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in supplier audits, third-party inspection management, and CAPA follow-up.
  • Familiarity with raw material control, sanitation practices, and packaging QA.
  • Exposure to EU or US import quality and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and driving supplier quality maturity.
