Marketing Planner *Ecosystem domain-Customer Marketing Section, Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department (C&M)

Tokyo, Japan Full time

Job Description:

Business Overview

Under the mission of "Empowering people and society through innovation," Rakuten Group offers a diverse range of services. At its core is "Rakuten Ichiba," which launched in 1997.

Rakuten Ichiba has grown into one of Japan's largest e-commerce sites by creating a system where anyone can easily open a store, transcending geographical boundaries, and bringing the joy of shopping to users across the nation. Since its inception, we have consistently embraced change, leveraging technology and creative thinking to provide new value to society.

Department Overview

The Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department is responsible for comprehensively planning and executing marketing strategies with the mission of expanding sales for Rakuten Ichiba, a core business of the Rakuten Group.

The "Ecosystem Marketing Group," for which we are currently recruiting, is a strategic team dedicated to maximizing the "Rakuten Ecosystem" (Rakuten Economic Zone), which consists of over 70 services provided by the Rakuten Group, to foster customer growth and drive discontinuous growth for Rakuten Ichiba. This group plans and executes marketing strategies to promote cross-use (mutual utilization) between Rakuten Ichiba and other Rakuten services such as Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Card, thereby contributing to the further development of the Rakuten Ecosystem.

This group focuses on user-centric marketing. Unlike marketing focused on merchants, products, or genres, this role involves analyzing the purchasing behavior and lifecycle of individual Rakuten members and leveraging CRM (Customer Relationship Management) to drive the overall growth of Rakuten Ichiba.

As an industry leader, this is a challenging and rewarding position that requires designing new strategies with a significant impact on consumers and executing them swiftly.

Why This Position is Attractive
1. Practice User-Centric Marketing to Contribute to Rakuten Ichiba's Growth
Contribute to the discontinuous growth of Rakuten Ichiba, a mature business, through user-centric marketing strategies and CRM. You will gain experience in planning and executing marketing activities for Rakuten Ichiba from a user perspective, analyzing customer behavior from Rakuten Group's vast data. This environment offers great fulfillment through initiatives that impact tens of millions of users.

2. Learn About and Contribute to the Construction of the Entire Rakuten Ecosystem
Through collaboration with over 70 Rakuten Group services, you will gain a deep understanding of the business models and strategies of each service, not just Rakuten Ichiba. By collaborating with diverse businesses and venturing into uncharted services, you can learn the mechanisms of the entire Rakuten Ecosystem and actively participate in its development. This will help you cultivate a strategic perspective to view the entire group's structure and advance your career.

3. A Unique Opportunity to Be Involved in Rakuten Ichiba's Core Program: "SPU"
You will be deeply involved in the improvement and promotion of "SPU (Super Point Up Program)," which is the cross-referral foundation of the Rakuten Ecosystem and the backbone supporting Rakuten Ichiba's growth. The experience of managing a core program that impacts a vast number of users is invaluable and will significantly enhance your market value as a marketer.

4. Master the Essence of Marketing, from Big Data Analysis to Planning
Utilize the vast purchasing and user behavior data held by the Rakuten Group to deeply analyze customer insights through a scientific approach. Based on these analyses, you will experience the entire process from strategy and plan formulation to execution and performance evaluation. This is an environment rich in growth opportunities, where you can simultaneously hone practical marketing skills and project management skills involving various stakeholders.

5. Gain a Management-Level Perspective and Accelerate Your Career Growth
Frequent collaboration with marketing personnel and management from other businesses will allow you to closely learn about Rakuten Group's overall KPIs, strategies, and management decision-making criteria. By developing a management-level perspective and enhancing strategic thinking, you can gain valuable experience that will contribute to your future career development.
