The Market Access Director for Mexico will be responsible for developing and executing market access strategies to ensure optimal pricing, reimbursement, and access for Bristol Myers Squibb's (BMS) portfolio of products. This role requires a deep understanding of the Mexican healthcare system, strong relationships with key stakeholders, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. The Market Access Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, and Government Affairs, to achieve business objectives.

The Access Director reports to the BMS Mexico General Manager

Primary responsibilities:

  • Leads Access Teams and serves as the champion for Value Access, Pricing and HEOR (VAP&HEOR) Strategy in the organization.
  • Develops local VAP & HEOR strategies and goals that are aligned with Global access strategies and objectives, anticipates opportunities and create plans to meet future objectives.
  • Provide strategic input into the development of health economic models, value dossiers, and other materials to support market access efforts.
  • Lead for the execution of the VAP & HEOR Strategy in main institutions such as IMSS, ISSSTE, IMSS Bienestar and Decentralized institutions.
  • Responsible for sales at the public Institutional and Private channel.
  • Lead negotiations with payers and government bodies to achieve favorable pricing and reimbursement outcomes.
  • Build and maintain excellent stakeholder networks and relationships internally and externally to develop key insights and advance our business. Place customers at the center in addressing needs and finding business solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in the healthcare environment, including policy, regulatory, and market trends, to identify opportunities and risks for BMS products.
  • Leads Patient Support Program (PSP) strategy and implementation aligned with internal policies and regulations.
  • Makes strategic decision and adaptation where necessary to maximize opportunities for growth and in line with the changing external landscape.
  • Ensures alignment of local strategy with BMS mission and pledge and complies with applicable laws and regulations as well as BMS Policies and Procedures
  • Sets a clear short and long term local strategic direction, coach’s team on how to translate region objectives into individual/local action plans.
  • Identifies necessary resources and leads the organization to focus on high priority opportunities; builds contingency plans as necessary.
  • Builds and develops strong cross functional teams with a cohesive and collaborative culture that embraces diversity & inclusion and drives employee engagement across all functions
  • Builds and manages a high-performance team with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement to enable scalability to overcome challenges.
  • Ensure business objectives and practices are fully compliant with relevant laws, regulations and BMS standards of business conduct and ethics.
  • Foster team effectiveness and accomplishment of shared goals by sharing knowledge, experience, and insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of market access strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Represent BMS in industry associations and forums to influence policy and advocate for the company's interests.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Economics, Public Health, Business Administration). Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in market access, pricing, reimbursement, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mexican healthcare system, including regulatory and institutional environment, as well as, reimbursement processes.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations with payers and government bodies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
