Loan Process Automation Developer Trainee

Purpose

Loan Process Automation is a project driven department where the content of assignments and duties constantly varies. This position interacts regularly with all departments of Loan Administration, as well as other user groups and developers, to accommodate ongoing functionality changes in processing requirements, and to implement enhancements and services that enrich member benefits and facilitate organizational efficiencies.

The Loan Process Automation Developer Trainee is the entry-level position within the department.  This position will work with the Developers to provide support and assistance to other members of the Loan Process Automation staff and the Loan Process Automation Manager in carrying out the department’s mission to promote efficiency and accuracy in gathering and inputting data by building, administering, and maintaining databases and macros for Loan Administration and the branch network.  Employees in this position will have demonstrable skills beyond the novice level but are not yet to the level of completing projects independently without input from Developer team members.

Duties

Participate as an active team player in all projects, team meetings, and training sessions.

Work to enhance knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Database Design Theory, VBA Coding Standards, and the Loan Process Automation Project Process Workflow.

Assist with creating databases and macros as guided by Developers and the Loan Process Automation Manager.

Learn to thoroughly document all phases of database/macro projects from planning, analysis, and design through development, implementation, and quality review.

Work with Developers to assist in testing programs and macros and provide feedback to coworkers for potential improvements.

Work with Developers to assist branches and departments with administration and maintenance of existing databases and macros as directed by the Loan Process Automation Manager.

Use Jira for daily project tracking, documentation, and entering and receiving new project requests.

Acquire knowledge of SECU lending policies and procedures and familiarity with our core origination and servicing systems.

Requirements

Proficiency beyond the novice level in the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Access and Excel, is required.  Familiarity with VBA coding is preferable.

Proficiency beyond the novice level with computers, software, and mainframe applications or programming.

Ability to navigate user screens of core loan origination and servicing systems to access online data for validation purposes.

Sufficient familiarity with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to be able to work with Developers to complete project documentation and artifacts.

Ability to manage several concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Passion for software development and problem solving.

Must be detail oriented yet remain focused on bigger picture and strategic objectives.

Must be willing to cooperate and participate in a group setting and on an individual basis with projects, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Ability to work and communicate well with technical professionals across the enterprise is required.

Must have ability to present ideas orally and in writing.

Must have a high level of technical aptitude.

Must be self-motivated and not require daily supervision.

Must be well organized, detail oriented, and be able to prioritize tasks to ensure organizational goals are met.

Must be able to speak and write English fluently.

Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.

Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policies established by the Credit Union.

Education and Experience

0 years of experience required

Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in technical or business-related field OR High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years database management/software development experience.

An educational background in computer science, business, or mathematics is preferred, but deference will be given to requisite practical experience and interest in programming and database design in lieu of formal educational background.

Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

Job Environment

Hybrid in-office and work from home schedule. In-office setting that has physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Work from home requires quiet, private working environment free from noise and disruption in order to maintain a professional at home working arrangement.                                       

Physical Demands

Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.

Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.

Must be able to comprehend phone calls.

Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
