Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead System Engineer (d/f/m) to join our dynamic team in the Airbus Defence and Space Team, for upcoming and existing projects from German and international Customers.

The successful candidate will lead a technical team across multiple sites, overseeing system breakdown, requirements engineering, testing, and planning while ensuring high-quality deliverables. Reporting to the Chief Engineer and line management, this role requires strong decision-making, self-organization, and the ability to motivate others in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Teams: Manage and guide multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple sites

  • System Breakdown: Oversee the decomposition of complex systems into subsystems and components

  • Project Planning and Execution: Create and maintain project schedules and execute plans

  • Decision-Making: Make critical technical and strategic decisions to resolve issues and drive project progress

  • Quality and Progress Monitoring, Reporting, apply agile methodologies to manage workflows

  • Motivate team members, encouraging innovation, accountability, and high performance

  • Ensure compliance with defense industry standards and regulations

  • Travel as needed to coordinate with teams, stakeholders, and clients

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on the defense or automotive industry
  • Proven expertise in system breakdown, requirements engineering, and testing
  • Experience leading technical teams and managing projects across multiple sites
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies, specifically Scrum and SAFe would be beneficial
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated work ethic
  • Ability to motivate and inspire team members
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing project demands
  • Strong communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with defense industry standards and practices
