The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.
About the role
As an Initial Assessment & Planning Worker, this is your opportunity to provides rapid crisis intervention and interim support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to access safe, affordable accommodation and prevent their return to the homelessness service system.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent part-time role offering 30.4 hours, located in Frankston, VIC.
How you will make an impact
Deliver quality, holistic and trauma-informed support to clients in line with The Salvation Army’s homelessness model of care, funding guidelines and accreditation standards
Build respectful relationships that encourage self-determination and assist clients to access and engage with appropriate services and supports
Maintain accurate records, complete required reports and use technology effectively to support case management and administrative tasks
Represent The Salvation Army with professionalism, uphold organisational policies and actively contribute to meetings and networks
Identify and report risks promptly while complying with Workplace Health and Safety, legislative and organisational requirements
What you will bring
Demonstrated experience in IAP and community services, supporting vulnerable people with a history of complexities in areas such homelessness, mental health, substance use, disability and family violence
Strong understanding of theoretical frameworks and strategies for working with people with complex needs
A current VIC drivers licence and employee Working with Children’s Check
