United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an Open Cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody). We commenced operation in 2020 and we are forecast to produce up to 10 million tonnes per annum of saleable thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal until 2042.

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, the Health, Safety & Training Officer is an integral member of the HST team and will advise, support and assist managers and supervisors in the implementation of health, safety and training systems, procedures and policies across our site.

Your primary objective is to work closely with the Health Coordinator and Safety Coordinator to assist in promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees. Your role will encompass the implementation and oversight of comprehensive health and safety programs, as well as the development and maintenance of the site safety statistics information and facilitation of end of month reporting.

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in work health, safety and/or training or equivalent

  • Previous administration experience

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to manage & build positive relationships

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated advanced computer literacy combined with the ability to quickly pick up new software programs
