The Financial Analyst, Technology Investments plays a pivotal role in the transformative journey to continuously improve the methodology of evaluating investment opportunities and measuring the performance of technology solutions being delivered. This role will report to the Finance Manager of Digital Initiatives and does not have any direct reports.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Review and Validate Business Cases and Performance Financial Metrics of a Large Portfolio of Technology Initiatives:
Validate the financials (mainly ROI) and financial KPIs of business cases of technology investments prepared by the Tech team before they are presented for executive review and approval (incl. validate financial hypotheses and assumptions, running scenarios, etc.)
Participate in the QA of the business case presentation beyond financials
Share recommendations on the business value of investments being assessed
Lead various initiatives to strengthen the accuracy, comparability, and speed of preparation of business cases
Continuously train and empower the business case preparers on building strong business cases
Develop and perform the analysis of comparing investments as per the business case vs. actuals for selected multi-year large investments
Validate the quantification of financial performance metrics of selected investments once delivered
Participate in initiatives to develop how to best measure the performance of technology investments individually and collectively
Participate in analyzing and documenting the capitalization of technology investments
Build and maintain a global central platform presenting information for all technology investments (incl. business cases data) across the organization
Delivering Insightful Financial Analysis and Data-Driven Recommendations:
Be responsible for various financial analyses to support strategic objectives and ad hoc needs of the Technology leadership
Build data visualization reports that highlight key financial insights and support data-driven recommendations
Build reports to automate and accelerate the data collection used for financial analysis
Lead ad hoc analysis of non-technology options to address a challenge or opportunity
Responsible for Budget Activities and Contributor to Governance Platforms:
Lead selected activities of the Budget process
Contribute to the Digital Planning & Portfolio process improvement and execution
Participate in various governance platforms where technology scope, delivery, and value are discussed
Obtain a deep understanding of the technologies being developed and delivered to relate financials
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in finance or Bachelor in Accounting and CPA designation
Minimum 5 years of experience, or minimum 3 years of experience in management consulting roles
Experience in building data visualization tools to highlight key financial insights for high management
Strong experience in preparing executive-ready deliverables
Bilingual (French and English), written and spoken, is a must
Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Data Visualization tool(s) (e.g., PowerBI)
