We are a fast-growing startup building advanced space and mission technologies in partnership with the U.S. government. As our Facility Security Officer, you will own the day-to-day execution of our facility, personnel, and program security functions in accordance with National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and/or Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) 704 and 705.
This is a hands-on role for a proactive security professional ready to wear multiple hats - from managing classified contracts and DD254s to supporting our COMSEC, Insider Threat, and clearance programs - while collaborating closely with our Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to ensure end-to-end protection of classified and CUI information.
Industrial Security & FSO Functions
Serve as the company’s Facility Security Officer (FSO), responsible for compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) requirements
Manage and maintain the company’s Facility Clearance (FCL) and ensure personnel clearances (PCLs) are properly processed and tracked in DISS/NISS
Administer DD254s, program access lists, and classified contract documentation
Coordinate DCSA / IC Customer inspections, self-inspections, and continuous monitoring activities
Oversee Insider Threat Program activities in collaboration with the ISSM
COMSEC and Physical Security
Act as interim COMSEC Custodian; manage and safeguard all COMSEC materials and keying equipment in accordance with NSA/CSS policy
Maintain and audit accountability records (e.g., SF-153) and ensure proper handling, storage, and destruction of COMSEC assets
Support physical security planning for new or expanded classified facilities, including construction, alarms, and access control
Cybersecurity and ISSO Support
Partner with the ISSM to align industrial and information security practices across classified and CUI systems
Support RMF documentation and accreditation efforts for classified information systems
Assist in implementing and enforcing cybersecurity controls related to classified and CUI work environments
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
Maintain compliance documentation and develop scalable processes for multi-program security operations
Train employees on security responsibilities, derivative classification, and handling procedures
Identify opportunities to streamline security workflows and leverage technology to support growth
Required
Active TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility
U.S. citizenship required
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Industrial Security, Personnel Security, or related fields
Working knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) or ICD 704 and 705, DISS/NISS, and DD254 management.
Experience serving as FSO, AFSO, or COMSEC Custodian (formal or acting capacity).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple concurrent programs
Preferred
Experience supporting or coordinating with DCSA, IC Customers, and NSA/CSS COMSEC programs.
Familiarity with RMF, ISSO/ISSM activities, or defense cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., JSIG, DoD 8510.01)
Strong communication and documentation skills for government and internal reporting
Experience in a startup or high-growth defense environment a strong plus
