Surveillant / Proctor : $29.64 ou/or $35.57 (2024-2025)The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.
These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.
These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

An exam proctor’s duties include to invigilate during an examination, and when required, to perform other related duties including but not limited to bringing exams to the examination room, distributing exams to Students, collecting exams at the end of the examination, placing the exams in order, coordinating other proctors, and delivering the completed exams to the appropriate place.
Responsibilities:
-Invigilate examinations for students registered with Academic Accommodations Service for both in person and online exams
-Respect the University’s policies and regulations, and Academic Accommodations procedures
-Respect individual accommodation plans and confidentiality of students
-Maintain academic integrity of examinations
-Maintain a high standard of client service
-Demonstrate empathy and compassion at all times
-Preparation of adaptive measures
-Retrieval, distribution, and collection of examinations in the exam room
-Other exam-related administrative tasks
Bilingualism: French and English (spoken and written expression and comprehension)
Computer skills (software)
Previous experience proctoring in a University setting and/or with students registered with Academic Accommodations is considered an asset
Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work autonomously and resolve problems independently
Available to work during exam periods
Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
Demonstrated compassionate and empathetic client service for a diverse population
Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
Knowledge of adaptive measures and technology is considered an asset
Knowledge of Academic Accommodations procedures is considered an asset
The selection process comprises four qualifying stages:

4. Confirmation of availability
***Interviews will be held during the week of January 5th, 2026 and mandatory training sessions the week of January 19th, 2026.
Important Note: This position is open exclusively to current University of Ottawa students who are actively enrolled in courses. Proctors must be available during midterm and final exam periods. Weekly hours are scheduled based on operational needs and may range from 0 to 25 hours. Please be advised that the volume of exams—and therefore the number of available hours—can vary from week to week.
