About the Position

The College of Business, Government and Law is seeking a motivated Research Associate in Criminology to join our world-class Criminology team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an innovative, high-impact research program that aims to transform offender rehabilitation by developing and embedding a strengths-based desistance approach across all NSW public prisons.

As a Research Associate in Criminology, you will:

  • Lead and contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of the Industry Laureate research program, including data collection and analysis, literature review, and reporting to achieve key project milestones.
  • Collaborate with the research team, postgraduate students, industry partners and Corrective Services NSW, to ensure ethical, high-quality, and impactful research outcomes.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications, reports, and presentations, and actively build national and international collaborations that enhance the project’s reach and influence.

About You:

You will be an emerging academic in criminology or a closely related field with a passion for applied research that delivers real-world impact in the criminal justice system. You bring strong critical thinking skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including justice professionals, correctional agencies, and academic colleagues, to generate meaningful change through research.

In this position, you will demonstrate:

  • Completion or near competition of a PhD in Criminology or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated emerging research experience, evidenced by publications and/or national or international conference presentations.
  • Proven experience in quantitative research methods, including design, analysis, and data synthesis.
