About the Location: Our Basingstoke site features specialist manufacturing, laboratories, and a logistics center. We produce culture media, anti-microbial susceptibility tests, and freeze-dried supplements used for diagnosing diseases, determining antibiotic treatments, and ensuring food safety. The site employs around 450 dedicated professionals.

The Role: As an Engineering Team Leader, you will oversee and coordinate a team of 4 Manufacturing Engineers, 8 Maintenance Technicians, and 4 Apprentices. Your role involves mentoring, planning, organizing, and directing maintenance operations to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of all equipment and facilities. We seek a candidate with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the site maintenance team, ensuring high performance and productivity.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety laws, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, including work orders and maintenance logs.
  • Collaborate with other department leads to support overall operational goals.
  • Offer technical expertise and fixing support for complex maintenance issues.
  • Monitor and control maintenance costs, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of maintenance staff.
  • Other tasks that fall into the scope of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a team in an engineering or heavily regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical devices, FMCG, or food production).
  • A continuous improvement mindset with practical experience in LEAN manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and its practical application in the workplace.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
