About the Role
Are you interested in shaping communications, leading projects, and fostering important stakeholder relationships? Alcoa is looking for a Communications and Community Relations Advisor to join the Huntly Mine team in a Fixed-Term 13-month maternity leave contract, due to commence in January 2026.
In this role, you will lead a range of programs and materials, both internally and externally, supporting Alcoa’s social license to operate. Some of which include:
Managing community investment relationships via partnerships, grants, and volunteering
Development and execution of a range of employee communications in online and offline channels
Lead communications and engagement for a range of projects with external stakeholders
Ongoing liaison with those living in proximity to mining operations
Planning and execution of events including community information sessions and pop-up activations
Work collaboratively across the extended Corporate Affairs and Community Relations teams to deliver regional initiatives
This role is a full-time position; however, consideration will be given to individuals seeking part-time opportunities.
It is a family friendly Monday to Friday roster, with a monthly Leisure Day off, allowing flexible working arrangements including working from home.
The role is site based, with an office based at Myara, with ad hoc requirements to be based at other Huntly locations or Pinjarra corporate offices.
As the Communications and Community Relations Advisor, you will be at the heart of our efforts to connect with the Huntly Mine workforce, community, and key external stakeholders. The role offers opportunity to work as a team and autonomously on a range of projects. It is an opportunity that may be of interest to someone who already works in this field, or who has an interest in starting.

What you can bring to the role
A Bachelor degree in public relations, social sciences, communications or a similar discipline will be held in high regard, although is not essential.
Previous experience in community and stakeholder engagement will be viewed favourably
You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of the Peel region of WA and in particular the communities of Jarrahdale and Dwellingup would be advantageous.
Knowledge of the bauxite-alumina-aluminium industry and the Alcoa’s geographical and socio-political setting in WA would be advantageous
You must hold a Current WA Drivers’ Licence

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa’s Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
