ING is looking for a Business Manager of COO Risk

We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and hands-on Business Manager to support the COO Risk. The Business Manager of COO risk reports directly into the COO Risk and is part of the leadership team.

Who we are

COO Risk sits right at the heart of the Bank’s operations. We translate our rather complex banking business exposures into impact on risk weighted assets and provisions in line with the constantly changing business desires and the latest regulatory requirements. We also provide important insights in NFR and Compliance topics and cater for corresponding regulatory reporting needs. COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk Organization with the purpose to drive our partners to maximize value in a safe & compliant environment. We play a critical role at ING and service all business lines, CROs and COOs of the Bank. COO Risk is committed to take explicit ownership of the end-to-end execution of regulatory transformation initiatives.

Job description
As a Business Manager you will take on a wide range of responsibilities, serving as the “right hand” of the COO Risk in his/her daily responsibilities. You will operate on a strategic, tactical and operational level, handling everything from acting as an advisor, preparing management meetings, organizing offsites, drafting key communication and coordinating key organizational transformations in the domain. You will also be the linking pin for key partners and stakeholders.  Together with the COO Risk you ensure targets are met. To this end you contribute to the strategic planning and steering, take charge of the business execution as well as domain-specific communication processes.

We expect you to

  • Take wide range of responsibilities by serving as the right hand of the COO Risk in his daily responsibilities
  • Focus on talent management and staffing across the full COO Risk domain explicitly including the HUBS
  • Ensure targets of COO Risk are met by contributing to the strategic planning and steering, take charge of the business execution and financial control as well as domain-specific communication processes
  • Be the linking pin for key partners and stakeholder and contribute to strategic discussions on behalf of the COO Risk
  • Operate on a strategic, tactical and operational level, handling everything from acting as an advisor, preparing management meetings, organizing offsites/townhalls, drafting key communication and coordinating the hiring process
  • Lead and manage strategic discussions and escalation with the COO Risk MT and manage external demands as a gatekeeper of the organization

Strong communication skills are a must as well as being comfortable with ambiguity and high work pressure.   • Practical knowledge of HQ decision making processes

  • Drive complex Modelling and Risk issues to a conclusion in close collaboration with Tribes
  • Ability to make decisions and take accountability and responsibility for the outcome
  • Coach more junior team members, optimize by working in collaboration

Your work environment

COO Risk is right at the heart of the Bank's complexity. All Wholesale Banking and Retail exposures need to be reported in an accurate, consistent and timely manner to our internal and external stakeholders. The way we value our exposures is subject to complex and constantly changing regulatory and tax requirements. All this complexity is captured into highly sophisticated partially home build credit risk capabilities. Knowledge of the Bank's products, latest regulations/legislations, accounting principles, technology solutions and excellent stakeholder management skills are required to be able to adequately act, anticipate, comment, advice on and respond to ongoing and upcoming changes.

Required skills and experience

  • Education at University with a Master degree in a related study (e.g. Business Administration, Information Management)
  • Proven record of relevant change execution experience preferably with international exposure
  • Proficient expertise in driving and steering multidisciplinary initiatives
  • Up-to-date understanding of IT processes and systems within the bank
  • Competent knowledge of Banking/Credit Risk is a plus
  • A personality and the capabilities to function effectively and independently
  • Excellent level of English
