About the role:

MUFG is the leading international bank in the Australasian market.  Due to recent success and continued growth in our business, we have an opportunity for an Associate to join our Sydney based Treasury Liquidity Management Desk.

In your role as Associate, you will provide dealer support for the team responsible for the branch Asset and Liability Management (ALM) business. You will assist the broader Oceania Liquidity Management team with managing crucial Treasury functions such as funding, liquidity, interest rate risk and to ensure financial stability and compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Oceania ALM team in managing the liquidity requirements to support the growth of the broader business lines and ensure we meet regulatory requirements
  • Manage both the NCD book for the Australia branch and RCD book for the New Zealand branch dealing directly with investors
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both external clients and internal stakeholders
  • Provide support in managing the Bank’s cash positions including executing and booking of cash and derivatives transactions
  • Prepare monthly/weekly/daily and ad-hoc reporting for ALCO and management requirements
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of financial markets, including banking products and interest rate derivatives
  • Broad exposure to all facets of liquidity management including funding, repo, issuance programs and transfer pricing
  • Contribute to financial modelling and cash flow forecasting to achieve strategic goals
  • Helping drive efficiency and process improvements to enhance financial results
  • Strong Risk management and proven track record of revenue generation
  • Assist in the management of the HQLA bond/liquids portfolio
  • Completing other ad-hoc tasks as directed

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an ALM/ financial markets role at a bank, corporate treasury or similar
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics / Financial or Business-related field
    • AFMA Accreditation preferred, or desire to obtain
  • Proficiency in the full suite of core Microsoft products, particularly Excel (e.g. pivot tables, financial modelling, data analysis) and PowerPoint (e.g. preparing presentations for stakeholders)
  • Knowledge of APRA APS210 liquidity standards desirable but not essential
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with proficiency in Excel modelling
  • Experience in execution and pricing of interest rate products for hedging such as Interest rate swaps.
  • Exposure to management of a bond portfolio preferred
  • A proactive and detailed orientated approach to all tasks
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships across all levels and effectively adapt to varied situations
