An exciting opportunity to join LBG’s Asset Finance Credit team as a Senior Credit Officer supporting BCB clients and playing a leading role in enabling Credit’s support for the Bank’s ambitious growth strategy in Asset Finance.


Asset Finance sits within the Commercial Banking division serving business clients across a wide variety of sectors - from small businesses to multinational corporations. The focus of this role will be BCB clients.

Asset Finance plays a key part of the cashflow solution for many trading businesses, is a growth product both within LBG and the UK, making this an exciting and important area to develop a career within the wider Group. Drawing upon a strong Asset Finance credit risk background and excellent stakeholder management skills, you will lead the team to be a best-in-class Asset Finance credit team.

Fostering a collaborative environment between the First Line of Defence (1LOD) and Second Line of Defence (2LOD) by promoting open communication, teamwork, and mutual understanding to enhance risk management practices. Bridging the gap between the two lines of defence by facilitating Credit’s ability to support the BCB Asset Finance team’s growth strategy and entrenching a consistent and efficient Credit risk management approach.  

What you'll be doing

As an integral part of the Asset Finance Credit Team, you will:

  • Structuring, reviewing and signing-off new structured Asset Finance lending transactions, while supporting the wider Credit team in analysing and assessing transactions. Provide insight into and critical assessment of operational processes.
  • Working with Product and Product Risk to ensure the data framework is appropriate and review key trends, connections, and concentrations across the Asset Finance portfolio and provide key recommendations.
  • Introducing and implementing industry best practices to enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall operational effectiveness across product governance, policy, and operational process.
  • Representing Asset Finance Credit at product and portfolio governance/approval forums.
  • Creating and delivering training and mentoring programs on Asset Finance to support development of the wider BCB Credit team’s skills and capabilities.
  • Taking the initiative to drive projects and improvements by proactively identifying opportunities for enhancement and leading efforts to implement changes.
  • Working in a high profile, professional, and demanding environment committed to putting people first, being bold, trusting each other, and embracing our differences.
  • Ultimately Line Managing direct reports and playing a key role in their career development.

What you’ll need:

  • A strong Credit background with experience in Asset Finance and and Asset Finance Products
  • Understanding of the range of assets we finance, including new transition technology assets (EV’s)
  • An understanding of credit models including PDs and LGDs, and assessing asset valuations
  • Good operational understanding of Asset Finance Products especially leasing asset ownership.
  • Track record in identifying and delivering change.
  • Experience of demonstrating sound judgement and decisiveness.
  • Sophisticated financial and non-financial analytical skills and critical analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of Asset Finance facility documentation
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable high levels of attention to detail, numeracy, and accuracy.
  • Experience of leading teams and line management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences including Senior Sanctioner’s on complex issues / risks, with strong written and verbal communications skills.
