This is the entry level of the Operational Technology (OT) Analyst classification hierarchy. Employees at this entry level solve problems in areas of specialization with close supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. They have knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures. They develop competence in supporting both business (Operations) and technology (IT) concepts and procedures, with emphasis on the special operational requirements involved in maintaining a real time, computer based control/management system to operate the electric grid.
Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of well-defined problems in area of expertise/responsibility.
Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team.
Establishes effective working relationships within business and technology groups.
Learns linkage between the business needs/value and the technology platforms that deliver business value.
Gains knowledge of the organization; gains knowledge existing and emerging technologies, issues, processes and practices.
Works with IT and EMS teammates to ensure proper cyber security, NERC and O&P compliance for EMS environment.
Maintains and exercises in depth knowledge of EMS advanced software applications (State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Network)
Serves on 24x7 callout rotation.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Other Technical Discipline
In lieu of Bachelor’s degree listed above, High School/GED AND six (6) or more years related work experience
Experience in the utility industry.
Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
