The New School seeks an Associate Director of Performing Arts Admission, to provide leadership and direction for the recruitment and enrollment of qualified undergraduate and graduate students to the College of Performing Arts, including Mannes School of Music, the School of Drama, and the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Reporting to the Senior Director of Admission in the College of Performing Arts, the Associate Director will assist with recruitment strategy and daily enrollment operations, and the management and coordination of Performing Arts admission staff.
We’re looking for a bright, motivated, personable, organized, and tenacious professional with expertise in the performing arts, and proven experience working with students, staff, and faculty within a higher education performing arts environment. The position requires a strong customer service orientation and the demonstrated ability to perform a variety of complex and diverse tasks involving independent judgment and action. This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States and internationally. Weekend and evening hours will be required during recruitment season, auditions, and other high volume admission times.
CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead strategizing, management and implementation efforts in recruitment, evaluation, audition planning, faculty collaboration and enrollment processes for the College of Performing Arts’ undergraduate, graduate, and diploma programs in music performance, with particular emphasis on classical music and the programs within the Mannes School of Music.
Serve as a member of the larger Enrollment Management and Strategic Partnerships (EMSP) recruitment planning team to ensure coordinated strategic deployment of university resources.
Developing and maintaining fluency in offerings and target populations for the complete array of offerings at the College of Performing Arts and at The New School.
Assist the Senior Director of Admission in the use of data to develop and implement admission policies and practices, and with management of Performing Arts admission staff. Prepare, review and execute admissions decisions in concert with select faculty and Dean’s office personnel.
Run, analyze, and disseminate reports to university partners , on data such as interview engagement, auditions and pipeline.
Liaise with the Admission Communications team and the Performing Arts Communications team in the development, maintenance and execution of the college’s communication and social networking plans to audiences across the admission pipeline.
Interview students, conduct group information sessions, represent the College of Performing Arts and The New School at various events on campus and throughout the United States at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, public and service organizations, and performing arts festivals and conferences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree.
Strong knowledge of both graduate and undergraduate education admissions and recruitment strategies.
Proven experience with a performing arts school environment, including the ability to relate well to artist/practitioner faculty and familiarity with audition-style events.
Driver’s license and valid Passport.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft and Google Suites and CRM platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in classical music performance or related field.
Excellent judgment, problem-solving, diplomacy and discretion with the ability to manage confidential information.
Experience building queries, collecting and analyzing large amounts of data for internal university use, preferably in Slate CRM.
Demonstrated experience managing staff.
Flexibility and ability to be adaptable in a dynamic, progressive environment.
WORK MODE
On Campus - This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.
Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee. #LI-ONSITE
SALARY RANGE
$83,500 - $85,000 per annum
