The Four Seasons Hotel Taipei is a new build standalone 250-room luxury hotel with a total gross floor area of approximately 35,000m2 located in Xinyi District directly opposite Taipei 101, one of the most iconic skyscrapers in Asia. 

The Hotel will offer the very best in events, wellness, and leisure with myriad amenities throughout the 31-storey building. Dining venues at the Hotel will include a high-end Chinese restaurant, destination bar, specialty restaurant, all-day restaurant, pool bar and lobby lounge. Surrounded by expansive glass paneling on both sides of the floor-to-ceiling design allows guests to look out across the cityscape, as well as up at the incredible presence of Taipei 101. 

About the role

As Assistant Director of Engineering for Four Seasons Hotel, Taipei, you will support the Director of Engineering in leading all aspects of the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations. This includes ensuring the safety, comfort, and efficiency of facilities for guests and employees, and overseeing systems such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire & life safety, HVAC, refrigeration, energy conservation, and building finishes. During the pre-opening stage, you will be responsible for On-Site Lead duties, including Handover + close-out from the Owner to Four Seasons, covering all construction-related aspects for this project.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will take an active role in daily operations while providing leadership and guidance to the engineering team. You will ensure that standards are consistently met, projects are delivered on time, and compliance with Four Seasons policies and local regulations is maintained. In the Director’s absence, you will act as the division head, ensuring seamless continuity of leadership.

What you will do

  • Support Division Leadership: Assist the Director in managing engineering operations, providing hands-on leadership for daily maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
  • Oversee Preventive Maintenance: Coordinate and monitor preventive maintenance programmes to reduce downtime, extend asset life, and maintain service quality.
  • Supervise Team Performance: Lead and mentor engineering supervisors and colleagues, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to Four Seasons standards.
  • Assist with Capital Projects: Support the planning and execution of capital improvement projects, coordinating contractors and ensuring work meets timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Enforce compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and Four Seasons’ policies; conduct regular inspections and participate in safety training.
  • Manage Operational Records: Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and project completion.
  • Promote Sustainability: Assist in implementing energy-saving initiatives and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Provide Guest and Employee Support: Respond promptly to guest and colleague concerns regarding facilities, ensuring safety, comfort, and satisfaction.
  • Act as Deputy Leader: Assume leadership of the Engineering Division in the absence of the Director of Engineering.

What you bring

  • A university degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ progressive experience in engineering within a luxury hotel or comparable service environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong technical expertise in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, including HVAC, power distribution, fire & life safety, plumbing, and energy management.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing maintenance operations, preventive maintenance programmes, and building services.
  • Exposure to project management, including renovations and capital improvements, with an understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of workplace safety practices, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, and motivate a multicultural team with professionalism and accountability.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English; additional language skills such as Chinese are an advantage.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and hands-on with a collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Integrity, reliability, and readiness to step into a senior leadership role when required.
