The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.
About the role
As an After-Hours Youth Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provides professional and consistent support to young men and women who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Reporting to the Youth Services Coordinator, this is a permanent part-time role offering 49 hours per fortnight, located in Shepparton, VIC.
How you will make an impact
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all residents while supporting them under the Journey to Independence Model within a Psychologically Informed Environment framework.
Assist residents to maintain personal and shared living spaces and develop skills for independent living including meal preparation, hygiene, recreation and daily routines.
Maintain accurate and timely records that meet legislative standards and ensure effective handovers for the safe management of the crisis accommodation program after hours.
Support residents in following case management plans and attending appointments related to health, housing, education, justice, finances and social inclusion.
Offer informal support to all program clients, identify risks and service gaps, and report or recommend improvements to supervisors or managers.
What you will bring
A Tertiary qualification in community services, social services, or related field (essential)
Demonstrated experience in a social service environment preferably the youth sector
A current VIC drivers licence and employee Working with Children’s Check
