Who will you be working with?

The mission of the Fleet Innovation & Transformation team is to accelerate fleet transformation by consistently providing compelling solutions and innovative technologies that improve reliability, sustainability, and performance.  The Wreck repair team is made up of technical and materials specialists focused on providing repair and renewal solutions to our Wabtec locomotive customers.

How will you make a difference?

The Wreck Repair Technical leader will be responsible for performing the locomotive wreck assessment, developing the parts list and workscope required to repair a damage locomotive, and providing technical support during the execution of wreck repair programs.

In this role, you will work closely with the Product Management team to expedite proposals, the Supply Chain team to drive the schedule and look for alternatives to reduce material lead time.  In addition, you will also work closely with 3rd party repair shops during program execution and with customers during technical reviews, on-site support and sharing program status with customers and leadership team.

What do we want to know about you?

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering, Sourcing or Manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projects or programs
  • Minimum of 5 years of Field Service or Repair Services experience
  • Understanding of all major freight locomotive functions and systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international locations
  • Experience in information handling, data analysis and presentation
  • Advanced knowledge in Power BI, Power apps, Access, MS Office
  • Willingness to work in different shop environments and multicultural teams

What will your typical day look like?

  • Perform on-site locomotive wreck assessments.
  • Lead the repair programs at our repair shops.
  • Provide support during the wreck repair proposal process.
  • Schedule, resolve issues, and provide technical advice for out-of-scope repair work.
  • Explore process streamlining and improvements to positively affect lead times and complications associated with materials required at less than standard lead time schedules.
  • Provide additional project and/or technical support to the team as required.
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work with the material team to provide alternatives to get the material needed for the repair programs.
  • Develop processes aimed at safely and accurately performing operations and repairs to locomotives.
  • Provides direct interface with customers during proposal, execution and delivery phases.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$77,400.00-$110,300.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
