Role Summary
We are seeking a versatile Workday Integration Consultant with deep expertise in Workday Orchestrate and Cloud Connect for Benefits and HCM. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, functional HR and benefits knowledge, and strong collaboration skills to design, implement, and manage scalable, resilient integrations across enterprise systems. The consultant will drive automation, ensure data integrity, and support the adoption of Workday’s latest integration and orchestration capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time, event-driven integrations using Workday Orchestrate and Cloud Connect.
- Build and maintain integrations with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Cloud Connect for systems such as ADP, Fidelity, and ServiceNow.
- Configure and maintain EIBs, Workday Studio integrations, and Cloud Connect templates for HCM and Benefits.
- Integrate Workday with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and Workday Extend.
- Automate and connect processes across Workday and third-party systems, including AI-powered and low-code workflows.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business processes into automated workflows.
- Ensure data accuracy through effective transformation, error handling, and validation mechanisms.
- Monitor orchestration performance, manage execution logs, and maintain governance standards.
- Stay current with Workday platform updates and proactively adapt solutions to evolving capabilities.
- Provide root cause analysis and ongoing support for integrations and orchestrations.
- Ensure integrations uphold high standards for data integrity, security, and responsible AI practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Workday Platform Expertise
- Strong foundational knowledge of Workday HCM and Benefits modules.
- Proficiency with Workday Integration Cloud, including EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday Studio.
- Experience with Workday Extend for custom app development and external API integration.
- Skilled in configuring Cloud Connect templates and understanding prebuilt integration frameworks.
Technical Skills
- 6+ years in Workday integration development, including hands-on use of Studio, EIBs, and Core Connectors.
- Solid understanding of integration design principles and event-driven architecture.
- Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP web services; familiarity with XML, JSON, and XSLT.
- Proficiency in data transformation techniques and data mapping.
- Expertise in Workday Report Writer for creating custom reports used in integrations.
- Ability to implement robust error handling, retry logic, and timeout strategies.
- Familiarity with orchestration monitoring, audit trails, and Workday’s security framework.
Functional & Industry Knowledge
- Deep understanding of core HR processes (e.g., hiring, termination, compensation).
- Benefits administration expertise including open enrollment, life events, and carrier data management.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as HIPAA 834 and LIMRA LDEx.
Business & Analytical Skills
- Strong business process analysis capabilities.
- Experience in gathering and prioritizing integration requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data flows and resolve integration errors.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Finance, IT, and vendors.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Adaptability to evolving platform features and business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Integration certification is preferred.
- Experience with generative AI and machine learning platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with domains like healthcare, retail, and finance.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Workday Report Writer, Prism Analytics, Tableau, and Business Objects.
