Position Summary:
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the functional operation, support, and maintenance of Workday software. Ensure optimized functionality, data integrity, and compliance across modules. Support testing of system changes, report writing, and user training.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Functional operation, support, and maintenance of Human Capital Management software (HCM, ATS, etc.); subject matter expert ensuring optimized functionality and data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing, and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities; also supports HRMS/HRIS upgrades, patches, testing and other technical projects as assigned.
Form and maintain a partnership with IT in support of HR department goals; coordinate with IT to keep employee information and email distribution lists up to date
Assist in determining HR, payroll, and organizational needs for HCM implementation or upgrades. Represent the interests of the HR and payroll departments relative to system requirements and functionality, proper integration of HCM systems/software with other internal and external systems. Ensure proper testing of systems and integration. Maintain system efficiencies and resolve system issues.
Develop and maintain appropriate role security and portal administration profiles and train on system access, utilization, and report queries.
Develop user procedures, guidelines, and documentation. Train new and existing users on HCM processes and functionality.
Write, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing business needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data. Prepare reports related to compliance and other HR functions.
Support development and maintenance of HR-related content for distribution and/or posting.
Set up and maintain associated data types, rules, data mapping, and conversion requirements for any HR/payroll-related data feeds.
Confirm accuracy and integrity of all data entered, maintain data in HCM systems and databases and ensure information is available on a timely basis. Perform group data updates, exports, imports, clean-ups, and research/report on any data discrepancies.
Support others with difficult HCM-related assignments and/or problems as directed.
Help maintain electronic records in compliance with applicable legal and company requirements.
Survey administration support for ad hoc employee surveys.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strategic Duties:
1. System Strategy & Roadmap
Lead development of the multi-year HR technology roadmap in partnership with HR, IT, and Finance.
Proactively identify new Workday features, releases, and integrations that could improve HR processes and employee experience.
Benchmark the HR tech stack against market trends and recommend innovations (AI-driven insights, mobile-first adoption, analytics tools).
2. Advanced Reporting & Analytics
Design and deliver dashboards and KPIs for executives and HR leadership (turnover trends, comp analytics, DEI metrics, engagement data).
Partner with Finance and Talent teams to build predictive analytics (e.g., attrition risk, workforce cost modeling).
Train HR/Finance leaders on self-service analytics and interpretation of workforce data.
3. Process Optimization & Automation
Map and re-engineer HR processes to leverage automation and Workday workflows (onboarding, merit cycles, job changes).
Identify and eliminate manual tasks by using Workday functionality, calculated fields, and integrations.
Partner with IT to implement RPA (Robotic Process Automation) or other tools for high-volume HR transactions.
4. Release & Change Management
Own the Workday release management cycle: assess new functionality, manage sandbox testing, create impact analysis, and lead end-user communications.
Build and maintain change management strategies to drive adoption and minimize disruption when rolling out new HR tech features.
5. Data Governance & Compliance
Establish data governance standards for HR data quality, security, and retention.
Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and global data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
Lead periodic data audits and partner with internal audit or compliance teams to mitigate risk.
6. Integration Architecture
Oversee design and maintenance of integrations between Workday and payroll, benefits, time tracking, ATS, finance, and other third-party tools.
Partner with IT on API management, error resolution, and future integration planning.
7. Stakeholder Engagement & Training
Serve as a trusted advisor to HR leadership, providing insights on how technology can enable strategic goals (total rewards, talent, DEI, workforce planning).
Lead Workday community of practice or user groups within the organization.
Create advanced training curriculum and toolkits for HRBPs, managers, and employees.
8. Vendor & License Management
Manage Workday vendor relationship: monitor SLAs, track contract renewals, negotiate feature add-ons, and escalate critical support issues.
Analyze system cost vs usage to recommend licensing changes.
9. Innovation & AI Enablement
Research and pilot emerging Workday AI features (skills cloud, machine learning-driven comp recommendations, chatbots for HR).
Evaluate third-party AI tools that can augment Workday and improve user experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED; Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma (RED) or Foreign High School Diploma (FHD).
Three (3) years of Workday experience, specifically, HR systems implementation, maintenance, and analytics.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
Knowledge of HR functional areas and related practices, programs, policies, etc. (recruiting, training, employee relations, benefits, compensation, etc.).
Understanding of HR processes and employee data combined with a strong understanding of how HCM/HRIS database design, structure, functions, and processes can support HR functions.
Knowledge of and practical application of HR programs, policies, and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of MS Suite.
Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility/adaptability; ability to succeed within a changing environment and willingness to dive into projects of all sizes.
Proven experience working with multiple projects and collaborating with diverse resources to meet tight delivery time frames.
Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and follow through.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours.
Must be able to sit or stand, using a computer and phone for 8 hours.
Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a casino and/or hospitality environment, particularly for a tribal enterprise.

BS/BA in Human Resources or business-related discipline.
HRIP or PHR/SPHR certification.
