Job Summary: As a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Modeler for the Pentagon Operations Center (POC), Law Enforcement Directorate, the incumbent is a technical expert in hazard modeling and meteorology for a 24/7 shift operation. The incumbent develops downwind hazard models for both actual hazardous material releases, as well as developing operational and training scenarios.

Qualifications: In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the GS-9 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your experience in 1) applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies that affect WMD programs and the availability of adequate support resources such as personnel, budgeting and equipment needed for planning, training, and exercise development; 2) applying analytical and evaluative skills in information technology and meteorology concepts, to include applying an intense understanding of chemical, biological, and radiological compounds; and 3) ability to utilize various computer based applications in order to analyze and display data in a relevant manner during a crisis event or situation. OR master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR You have a combination of specialized experience and education. You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your experience in 1) applying knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) HAZMAT laws, regulations, principles and practices, and complex hazard modeling software capabilities in order to provide technical guidance in case of a hazard material atmospheric release; 2) conducting studies, analyzing findings and making recommendations on substantive operating programs; e.g., WMD Modeling and Meteorological Programs; and 3) applying analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to measure and improve program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity. OR You possess a PH.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.M. if related. OR You have a combination of specialized experience and education. NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.
