Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Software Engineer with a solid foundation in software development principles and the ability to independently contribute to projects. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain innovative software solutions while collaborating with experienced engineers and cross‑functional teams to achieve business objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with industry-standard tools and practices, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. This position is located onsite in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and implement software solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Write, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and scalable code.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Assist in the documentation of system processes and code for ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.
  • Engage with product managers and designers to clarify requirements and deliver robust technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 0 years with Master's degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Active SSBI required at the time of application, and the ability to obtain SCI prior to start
  • Experience with JAVA and C++
  • Experience in software object-oriented design
  • Experience in software unit testing
  • Experience with software development on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
  • Background in Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization technologies
  • Familiarity with digital signal data processing
  • Prior work with satellite and payload simulators
  • Knowledge of REST architecture principles
  • Proficiency in micro-service architecture and object-oriented design
  • Experience in software system integration, testing, and deployment

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
