Dr. Abdelmoneim's Toxicology Lab utilizes zebrafish (Danio rerio) and a broad toolkit including molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, cloning), transgenesis (Tol2, CRISPR/Cas9), bright-field and fluorescence microscopy with image analysis, analytical chemistry, and behavioral assays. The Research Associate hired for this position will maintain zebrafish colonies in compliance with all animal care policies, support routine lab operations, and perform laboratory techniques and data analysis under the PI’s direction.
Job Responsibilities:
55%- Assist and become proficient in maintaining fish colonies with adherence to all appropriate animal care policies.
25% - Perform laboratory techniques and data analysis under the PI’s direction. Assist in the training of student workers and graduate students as it becomes necessary.
15%- Help with lab maintenance and other support duties as required. Order supplies and receive packages. Help train students in lab processes and housekeeping.
5%- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Toxicology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biological engineering, chemistry, or related field; and 1+ years of previous work in a research lab as a student worker or volunteer.
