We are seeking a security-focused and motivated intern to help manage our enterprise vulnerability landscape. The successful candidate will work closely with our vulnerability management, cloud security, and IT operations teams to identify, assess, and track vulnerabilities across our infrastructure. This role is crucial for proactively reducing the attack surface of MSI's enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the operation of vulnerability management tools to scan for vulnerabilities across products assets.
Assist with triage, validate, and document vulnerabilities discovered through automated scanning.
Contribute to the maintenance and tuning of our vulnerability scanning platforms.
Assist in working with multiple data sources to enrich vulnerability data and drive actionable outcomes.
Work with various teams to ensure systems comply with vulnerability management policies and standards.
Help create reports and dashboards to provide insights into our vulnerability risk posture.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to improving our vulnerability management lifecycle processes.
Learning Outcomes:
Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard vulnerability management tools and methodologies.
Develop skills in vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, and reporting.
Enhance collaboration and communication skills by working directly with IT and cybersecurity professionals.
Gain a deep understanding of how a vulnerability management program is operationalized in a modern enterprise.
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Understanding of common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) and concepts like CVSS scoring, CISA KEV List, MITRE ATT&CK, EPSS scoring.
Basic knowledge of a programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, NodeJS).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, especially when explaining technical concepts.
Proficient in Google Suite or similar software.
Familiarity with basics of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and IT infrastructure concepts is a plus.
Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus) is a significant plus.
