ROLE SUMMARY
 

Reporting to the Pfizer Global Supply, SVP Global Biopharma Manufacturing (GBM), this role will lead a group of manufacturing sites including, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dalian, China, El Jadida, Morocco, Goa, India, Itapevi, Brazil, Jakarta, Indonesia, KAEC, Saudi Arabia, Toluca, Mexico, Tunis, Tunisia and Wuxi, China.  This role has the primary accountability to ensure the availability of quality products to meet the supply requirements for Pfizer.  This leader will ensure that the network of sites is well organized, fully compliant and operating effectively and efficiently following IMEx lean management system and governance, and will work with key partners including, but not limited to, Quality Operations, GTEL, Global Supply Chain, Finance, EHS and Digital to meet pre-established Operational/Quality/Safety and overall performance goals in alignment with approved balanced scorecard.  

The incumbent will be a member of the GBM Leadership Team and will lead the network of sites in accordance with the objectives of this leadership team.

This role will provide strategic direction and leadership for the assigned sites and site leaders in the network to deliver on Pfizer’s Blueprint and PGS’s multi-year goals. They will participate in the development, execution and oversight of operating plans that lead to the achievement of the PGS goals for the network and each site including but not limited to quality, compliance, safety, supply and launch excellence and building an inclusive culture. The successful candidate will make effective operational and financial decisions to positively impact both short and long-term network and site objectives. This leader should ensure an effective talent management process to ensure effective talent identification, talent development and coaching, performance management and succession planning, as well as developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external customers, regulators and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will create, establish and maintain an environment that enables the required Pfizer culture and encourages collaboration both within the GBM network, across the entire PGS network and Pfizer.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational and Site Leadership activities

  • Optimize the overall supply performance of the sites
  • Deliver against Balanced Scorecard metrics and continuously improve site operations
  • Ensure rapid and effective resolution of supply issues.
  • Instill as strong Quality, Compliance and Speak Up Culture 
  • Position the sites and operations to anticipate and quickly act upon commercial opportunities as they arise
  • Ensure effective preparation of operating budgets to achieve savings targets and meet overall financial commitments
  • Ensure sharing of best practices across sites
  • Drive the network People strategy in order to deliver on our Colleagues, Culture and Community priorities and ensure everyone feels cared for and heard.
  • Be a senior Pfizer advocate for operational issues with the senior leaders within PGS and Pfizer and with external partners as needed
  • Engage tactically with sites on supply issues
  • Ensure continued technical knowledge development and sharing across sites
  • Establish operational excellence and performance goals for all sites
  • Support any due diligence and Pfizer enterprise-wide strategies with site and above-site resources, as appropriate  

People and Team Leadership activities

  • Develop strong leadership teams; encourage and support the professional development of the senior team
  • Instill a culture of ownership, leadership and management excellence, strong talent management and sharp focus on people throughout the network
  • Ensure sites work closely with their counterparts in Quality, Global Supply Chain, Technology and Engineering and other Functions to deliver PGS's Strategy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, pharmacy, microbiology, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 20 years of pharmaceutical operations experience including site operations experience.
  • Must be able to lead and inspire culturally diverse team, fostering inclusion and collaborations across different sites and backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as a high energy level and initiative.
  • Demonstrated success growing leaders, building strong teams, and creating a true ownership culture through strong leadership by example
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, especially in the context of a team of Site Leaders.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to get immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technical advancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives.
  • Strong understanding and leadership of sites from an operational perspective
  • Strong understanding of the commercial business; demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with senior commercial leaders and deliver on commitments
  • Demonstrated ability to actively contribute to the strategic leadership of PGS as it supports commercial business needs beyond supply-related aspects of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformational change
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures and to connect and engage with colleagues at all levels of the organization including the shop floor and the Pfizer senior leadership
  • Deep knowledge of site operational activities and budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a transparent manner and effectively influence senior commercial and operations leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly; shift direction with just enough information; and operate effectively in gray areas
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to Quality and EHS
  • Demonstrated change agility to successfully manage a high degree of complexity and multiple priorities

  • Leadership of a manufacturing site or a group of sites

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel 25 - 30% of working time
