Reporting to the President, St. Francis Hospital and Hartford Market, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for managing the Pharmacy, Laboratory, Respiratory, Radiology, Imaging, Food Services, Transportation, and Environmental Services. The Vice President will be a member of the Senior Leadership Group. Participates in defining the vision and strategic direction for a Health Ministry (HM). Under general direction, provides leadership and operational oversight of professional and support service departments. Within this area of responsibility, assumes overall accountability for quality, effectiveness, and cost of services provided. Ensures that services are provided in a manner consistent with the Trinity Health mission, values, guiding behaviors and Ethical and Religious Directives. Cultivates effective working relationships with the medical staff. Works to integrate department activities with the organization's strategic plan, operating objectives, and budget. Assures effective coordination with all departments and functions within the Health Ministry. Participates fully in relevant projects and initiatives of Trinity Health.
Essential Functions
Participates in the development of annual operating plans and budgets that are aligned with the organization's strategic priorities.
In conjunction with other senior leaders, develops and implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve all aspects of organizational performance, including quality, efficiency, and patient care experience. Participates in evaluating, selecting and implementing clinical and information technology that supports patient care and improves productivity.
Responsible for the implementation and ongoing operation of the Trinity Health Organizational Integrity Program (OIP) within the organization.
Oversees the implementation and operation of policies, procedures, reporting, systems and other OIP activities within the organization.
Ensures that the policies and procedures conform to state and federal licensure requirements as well as to accreditation standards.
Fosters an environment of organizational learning related to patient safety and error reduction; supports sharing of knowledge and encourages behavioral changes to improve patient safety.
Direct supervision of reporting department heads and trains the same department heads, via Admin Director, regarding overall hospital policies, objectives, and operations.
Responsible for the indirect supervision of all hospital personnel. Responsible for the quality of care provided by hospital personnel. Responsible for reporting any safety hazards found throughout the hospital.
Establishes and maintains a professional, effective working relationship with the Medical Staff. Represents hospital in a positive and professional manner as a business and a health care provider.
Participate in the definition of a strategic vision for the organization and effectively communicates that vision to all directs reports and associates in area of responsibility. Defines and shares a strategy and vision.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master's degree health, nursing or business-related field preferred.
Minimum ten (10) years of years health care experience (progressively responsible administrative experience in a complex healthcare organization).
A strong working knowledge of the business of healthcare including financial management, cost management, information systems data acquisition and analysis, and competitive trends.
Physical and Mental Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.
Must be able to travel as needed to the various Trinity Health sites.
