As Vice President of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for managing the technology integration of acquired companies. You and your team will provide technical and strategic leadership for integrating acquired companies’ technology platforms, products, and teams into our organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, you will work closely with senior leadership, product, and engineering teams to define integration strategies, drive execution, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that support our growth.

You will collaborate directly with the CEO, CFO, CTO, and Senior Product Leadership to define the processes and technology required to support our expanding business

This role is located in our Richmond, Virginia office and has a schedule of 4 days on-site and 1 day work from home.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end technology integration of acquired companies, including platforms, applications, data, and development teams.
  • Develop and execute integration roadmaps, timelines, and success metrics in partnership with executive stakeholders.
  • Assess acquired technology assets and recommend optimal approaches for consolidation, migration, or enhancement.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with integrations.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams to ensure integration projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Act as a player-coach with 10+ years of industry experience managing multiple engineering teams working on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering leaders and staff from acquired organizations, fostering retention and engagement.
  • Work with recruiting to identify, hire, and onboard top industry talent.
  • Coach, motivate, train, and retain “A Players.”
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within integration teams.
  • Communicate integration progress, challenges, and outcomes to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE industry and CoStar’s position in the commercial real estate market.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform integration strategies and future acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or adjacent field required from an accredited, not-for-profit college or university.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large-scale software development and integration initiatives, ideally in a high-growth or acquisitive environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully integrating technology platforms and teams post-acquisition.
  • Project leadership on large, multi-team, multi-discipline software products.
  • Experience managing and coaching managers and senior engineers.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams while thriving in a fast-paced, growth tech environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong internal relationships and manage key stakeholders, including at the CEO level.
  • Excellent team building, negotiation, and consensus-building abilities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and a track record of successful software delivery.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and an ability to deeply learn complex topics and problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
