Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Communications, Fortitude Re seeks a strategic and dynamic Vice President, Investor & Strategic Communications to lead our Investor Relations function. This pivotal role will shape the company’s external financial narrative by delivering high-impact investor communications, fostering stakeholder trust, and driving strategic engagement with investors, the Board, and the Executive Committee (ExCo). You will oversee the creation of investor materials, manage financial data repositories, and spearhead automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, collaborating closely with senior leadership to align investor relations with Fortitude Re’s strategic objectives.   This role will be based in our Jersey City, NJ office on a hybrid basis. 

What You Will Do: 

Strategic Investor Engagement & Consulting 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive investor relations strategy to strengthen relationships with investors and stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate with partners across the enterprise to create Board deliverables, incorporating macro analysis of the external and competitive environment to inform strategic direction. 

  • Produce actionable business insights by leveraging in-depth knowledge of Fortitude Re’s existing businesses, aligning with enterprise goals and investor expectations. 

  • Scope, design, and lead bespoke projects for senior leaders to address key enterprise priorities, ensuring solutions are data-driven and strategically sound.

Non-GAAP Metrics Governance & Policy 

  • Own the end-to-end process for defining and governing the company’s key non-GAAP financial metrics, including Adjusted Net Income and 'Core' Operating Earnings. 

  • Develop and maintain the formal policy document that standardizes the definitions, calculations, and use of these metrics. 

  • Establish and enforce a robust control framework to ensure the consistent, accurate, and compliant application of non-GAAP metrics across all internal and external communications. 

  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to align metric definitions with strategic objectives and ensure full transparency and rigor in their reporting. 

Strategic Financial Communications & Analysis 

  • Lead the creation of strategic presentations and decks for the Board and ExCo, translating complex financial, operational, and market data into compelling, actionable narratives. 

  • Analyze investor feedback, market trends, peer performance, and macroeconomic factors to inform Fortitude Re’s strategic positioning and messaging.  

  • Oversee the production of quarterly earnings materials, financial supplements, and monthly investor reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company goals. 

  • Manage the unified repository of financial data, standardizing definitions (e.g., ROE, ATOI) and resolving discrepancies across departments. 

  • Provide subject matter expertise to senior leadership on financial results, investor queries, and performance drivers. 

External Engagement & Stakeholder Outreach 

  • Organize annual events featuring executive presentations, Q&A sessions, and deep dives to showcase Fortitude Re’s strategy, performance, and vision to investors and stakeholders. 

  • Schedule targeted roadshows with key industry analysts and potential partners to enhance visibility and foster strategic relationships. 

  • Represent Fortitude Re in external forums, industry conferences, and investor meetings to strengthen the company’s market presence and thought leadership. 

  • Develop tailored communication strategies for key external stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with Fortitude Re’s brand and objectives. 

Automation & Process Innovation 

  • Drive automation initiatives in partnership with Data & Analytics to streamline financial reporting, investor query responses, and CRM system management. 

  • Develop AI-powered tools, such as a Q&A bank for investor and ExCo inquiries, to enhance responsiveness and efficiency. 

  • Enhance control frameworks to ensure compliance and data integrity in investor communications. 

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Build and lead a high-performing Investor Relations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Actuarial, Competitive Intelligence) to align investor communications with business objectives. 

  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient information flow and strategic alignment.

What You Will Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a leading college or university in business, finance, accounting, or a related field; graduate degree (MBA, CFA, or equivalent) valued but not required. 

  • 10+ years in investor relations, strategic consulting or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to lead substantive project teams or deep expertise in the financial services industry. Proven track record of successfully managing cross-functional initiatives from conception to execution. 

  • Proven track record of developing analysts through coaching and mentoring, fostering professional growth and high performance. 

  • Exceptional ability to quickly break down complex problems in a structured manner, prioritize analysis, and derive actionable insights from complex data sets. 

  • Advanced communication skills, with the ability to create simple, powerful, and data-driven presentations and communications for senior leaders, the Board, and investors. 

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders and build enduring, trust-based, high-impact relationships with clients and colleagues. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM systems, automation tools, and strategic planning software preferred. 

  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a Wall Street research analyst (sell-side or buy-side), in investor relations, or in strategic consulting within the life insurance, retirement, or broader financial services industry.

The base salary range for this role is listed below and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
