About the team and the role:

An eBay subsidiary, TCGplayer is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform — connecting and empowering the hobby community.  Trading card games are a $25B global market that creates community connection through in-person games (Pokemon; Magic: The Gathering; YiGiOh; etc.). Founded by TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace, and create tools, technologies and solutions that help small businesses profitably sell TCGs at scale.

As a User Experience Designer, you will apply your domain expertise and knowledge of UX best-practices to drive high-impact product improvements in our Monetization and Compliance group – one of TCGplayer’s critical product portfolios. In this mid-level design role, you will partner with cross-functional peers to design and deliver customer-centered solutions for hobbyists and professional sellers, focusing on areas such as payments, billing, customer fees, and related compliance efforts such as Know Your Customer (KYC). You will work within an established design process to create innovative solutions that are grounded in research and validated through user testing.

Our User Experience Design team prides itself on creating a culture that fosters camaraderie, embraces diversity, and exudes passion. We value curiosity, craft, and a desire to directly interact with the real world. You don’t have to be a hobbyist or gamer to love working in TCGplayer’s UX Design organization, but you should be comfortable with ambiguity and eager to amplify our steadfast commitment to making hobbies and games accessible, fun, and rewarding for everyone. If you’re equal parts “empathy” and “ambition,” this is an opportunity to take risks and stretch yourself, surrounded by teammates who will support you along the way.

What you will accomplish:

  • Create UX deliverables throughout the design process, evolving designs from early concepts, wireframes, and prototypes to final specifications

  • Deliver high-value features across multiple projects, ensuring design solutions support user needs, align with business goals, and positively impact key performance metrics

  • Apply advanced knowledge of Figma to create, iterate, and hand off design assets while working within an established design system

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to deliver high-quality solutions that drive seller value, inform product strategy, and support data-driven decision-making

  • Participate in user testing, workshops, and research efforts to gather insights and validate design decisions

  • Obtain Leadership approval and team alignment through compelling storytelling that clearly communicates your ideas and design rationale

  • Build knowledge about trends in the trading card game (TCG) space, online marketplaces, and best-in-class eCommerce and payment experiences — actively sharing relevant ideas and inspiration

What you will bring:

  • 3–4 years of experience in a dedicated User Experience Design role with a BA/BS degree in Design, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent practical experience

  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions and problem-solving skills with measurable impact

  • Experience designing billing and payment experiences within an eCommerce or online marketplace context

  • Experience designing B2B/SaaS web-based software with a focus on workflow and task completion

  • Experience using research, user testing, and both quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions

  • Knowledge of responsive design principles and WCAG accessibility standards

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with leading AI tools and examples of how you’ve integrated them into your workflow to generate concepts, improve efficiency, or improve quality

    • Familiarity with the gaming, hobby, or collectibles community — particularly trading card games

    • Knowledge of industry compliance requirements, as well as privacy and data protection regulations (domestic and international)
