US Primary Care Portfolio Maximization Lead

ROLE SUMMARY

Responsible for partnering with the Primary Care President and Leadership Team to identify and unlock opportunities to grow the $20B business, meet annual BU financial objectives, and transform the operating model including re-allocation of a $3B operating expense based, aligned with ambitions of the BU to deliver revenue growth and executional excellence, and a sustainable P&L for the longer term. 

Requires a seasoned, senior, and strategic leader who can partner with the US President and credibly and effectively challenge and pressure test strategies, resourcing plans, and assumptions developed by senior Primary Care Leaders. This senior leader must also effectively influence , navigate and advocate for resourcing and partnership needs across senior leaders in the Chief Marketing Office, Global Access and Value, US Market Access, and Finance.  Must be able to effectively and confidently communicate and engage key senior stakeholders including the Chief Commercial Officer and approx. 3,000 Primary Care colleagues.

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Identifying opportunities to unlock growth to optimize the operating model and formulate programs (such as 90 day direct mail, independent pharmacies adjudication, co pay program optimization, Gross To Net optimization levers) in partnership with the BU LT
  • Implementing structured processes to propose optimal allocation of OPEX and resources based on growth potential, margin profiles, and return on key investments, monitoring progress on critical success factors related to achieving commercial objectives, and identifying ways to tackle opportunities and challenges early. Strategically shift resources across franchises and portfolio to maximize opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Partnering with the BU Head and LT to prioritize levers, brands, or portfolios in need of transformative attention.
  • Leading cross-functional evaluation of the impact of trade-offs and investments, and proactively leverage leading and lagging signals and market dynamics to inform sales and marketing resource allocation and formulating growth strategies across the primary care portfolio
  • Coordinate strategic initiatives with core BU functions including sales, marketing, CCG, finance, S&C, portfolio contracting, and market access, to maximize BU performance and ensure achievement of objectives
  • Contribute to long-term strategy and LCM for BU, partnering with Brand/Franchise Heads, Global Marketing and CSI on behalf of the BU Head
  • Leverage knowledge of key business challenges, industry best practices and external environment, to proactively identify risks and opportunities and formulate innovative solutions
  • Collaborate and contribute to commercial development opportunities for Primary Care BU in coordination with BU Head, CSI, BD, and Global Marketing Teams
  • Balance risks and opportunities in the BU P&L for financial submissions. Pressure test forecast assumptions and drivers of variance to forecasts
  • Collaborate and contribute to special projects and business initiatives such as field force expansion/structure
  • Leverage Advanced Analytics through collaboration with CAAI to identify critical success factors and opportunities that align and optimize resources and maximize the growth and performance of in-line and launch brands
  • Identify ways to transform cross functional operating models to better address needs of customers
  • Identify opportunities to rationalize GTN and deliver sustainable growth
  • Proactively monitor leading and lagging signals to provide an early read into opportunities and challenges

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Degree and 12+ years of pharmaceutical, Biotech or consulting experience 
  • Multi-functional experience in a pharmaceutical environment such as:
  • Sales and sales operations
  • Brand/product marketing experience with an understanding of the marketing processes
  • Business analysis; financial management; strategic planning

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Track record of strong networking and working collaboratively with others across functions and brands – cross-functionally
  • Strong performance track record: Continuously demonstrated high performance, teamwork and ability to produce outstanding results, and moving projects forward in a matrix organization
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and external factors across the value chain impacting the marketplace
  • Successful track record in driving breakthrough thinking that leads to systemic change and development of successful business practices

  • Ability to go beyond the "tired and true" to lead the development of new practices, processes and strategic, as well as tactical initiatives that create broad commercial opportunities
  • Strong at managing top & bottom line and making financial trade-offs
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to analyze, understand and articulate complex concepts to drive BU decision-making​ (e.g. KPI’s)
  • Proven ability to understand, track, analyze and leverage data into building effective strategies and business plans
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start and proactively initiate
  • Exceptional time management, planning, organizational, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Deep understanding of key organizational/functional processes and supporting tools/platform

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,800.00 to $366,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
