Role overview
An excellent opportunity for an ambitious, proactive individual as part of a small, dynamic and successful team. The Underwriting Assistant role is a critical support role requiring strong attention to detail and a good work ethic whilst providing an exceptional opportunity to learn, progress, and develop a career in underwriting. Career progression and professional qualifications relating to the role will be supported and encouraged.
Role responsibilities
• Risk entry and processing into Underwriting systems
• Management of Tamesis pipeline and activity tracking
• Creation and maintenance of client folders to include filing of correspondence, proposal forms, contracts and supporting documentation
• Assist in the pricing of business, involving the review of underwriting submissions, the review of contract wordings and data entry into rating models
• Assist in portfolio analysis and research
• Internal and external coordination and communications, both written and spoken, in support of efficient and effective risk entry and processing
• Provide accurate and timely support to the Underwriting team - especially during key renewal periods
Key requirements
• Motivated to develop and proactiveness to learn.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately and methodically.
• A high level of numeracy and literacy.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Competent IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel (Intermediate – to v-look up / pivot table level) and PowerPoint.
• Organised, with good planning/time management skills to achieve tight deadlines/targets.
• Candidates will ideally have a relevant academic qualification to degree level in a numerate discipline (e.g. Mathematics or an analytical subject) but this is not essential)
• Ideal candidates will have prior experience in the London Market.
• Relevant candidates will have previous experience in treaty re-insurance and Property, Retro, Marine or Speciality classes (but this is more useful than essential).
