The National Solutions Sector is currently soliciting an experienced Triage Quality Control Examiner to perform Spanish-language media exploitation (MEDEX) and triage in support of a DoD customer in the National Capital Region (NCR). Quality Control Examiners should be experienced in general linguistic and Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) operations and are expected to leverage language and analytical skills, as well as advanced computer systems aptitude in addressing triage examination projects.
Triage Quality Control Examiners will perform quality review to ensure the proper examination of electronic media for content of interest, and the correct identification and prioritization of items of importance for further processing, in accordance with customer standard operating procedures. Triage Quality Control Examiners will make corrections to products produced by Triage team members and provide feedback to team members. Triage Quality Control Examiners will be expected to communicate expectations and feedback effectively; contribute to knowledge management repositories to ensure the documentation and constant improvement of processes and procedures; provide ad-hoc notification to superiors on task progress and significant findings; and release edited reports of examiners' findings for further dissemination to customer(s).
Must currently possess a TS/SCI w/CI poly clearance.
The primary responsibilities of the Quality Control Examiners are:
Make corrections to products produced by Triage team members and provide constructive feedback to facilitate professional development
View and process large amounts of Spanish-language material and identify critical items of information that support information gaps in national intelligence requirements
Convert, reformat, parse, and otherwise exploit media files using customer tools to ensure compatibility and readability for translation systems
Handle, delegate, and manage ad-hoc customer requests for exploitation products outside those defined in the normal triage process
Ensure the quality and timely deliverance of reports detailing the presence and significance of data discovered during the triage process
Assess the accuracy of written gists, translations, and/or transcriptions of general and technical material
Assist with and develop processes to handle novel information types in a rapidly changing environment
Develop materials, such as technical user guides, for the Triage team's knowledge management repository
Assist in the professional development of triage team members within their areas of responsibility, to include knowledge of mission tasks, technical capabilities, and knowledge of their target domain
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have the sufficient language skills, analytic skills, and technical aptitude to gain a working knowledge on job-required tools and processes (On-the-job training may be provided as needed to address customer-specific needs, with ongoing evaluations throughout train-up period).
Requires a BA degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience in linguist operations (i.e., translation, language analysis), and performing media examination for Document and Media Exploitation projects) or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Willingness to perform occasional shift work to meet mission demands.
Achieve a minimum score of a 3 in Spanish and English for Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
Achieve a minimum of a 3+ in English writing if there is no US accredited degree.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Must currently possess a TS/SCI w/CI poly clearance.
Ability to provide thoughtful and thorough feedback, consistently grounded in clearly-established and effectively-communicated standards.
Ability to quickly scan and process a large amount of material in the Spanish language for critical and essential elements of information.
Ability to comprehend customer prioritization requirements and apply them to files under review, as well as apply personal judgment when assessing the potential value of files and information
Demonstrated history of working on screening or translation projects and in maintaining the integrity and meaning of the translated material.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner (email, spoken, & reports).
Ability to make sound decisions and handle stress, while meeting deadlines and performing in a high-paced environment.
Familiarity with report writing styles for DOD and IC consumers.
Possess a working proficiency in standard computer systems and office programs, with additional experience in media examination tools.
Ability to use or train to proficiency on customer specific software programs and tools.
Demonstrated high levels of organization, applicable to tracking Examiner progress and to maintaining knowledge management repositories.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Native-level proficiency in the Spanish language, plus one additional foreign language
Desktop publishing experience
An advanced degree in one of the following fields: Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Legal, Medical, Banking and Financing, Foreign Military, Forensics
Past performance as a media examiner in support of DOD or IC customers.
Familiarity with Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) processes and specialized tools (i.e., FTK, enCase, or similar).
