The transporter will collect and deliver medications, specimens and/or other items to/within assigned locations including but not limited to clinics, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, and lobby. The transporter will also assist with patient wayfinding, escorting stable patients/visitors to/from designated locations or providing wheelchair/stretcher assist for patients in need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Display a positive and courteous manner in-person and via electronic communications. Work effectively as a team member across multiple departments/locations.
- Perform a vital part of the patient care process by transporting medications, medical specimens, records, reports, supplies, and equipment in a safe and timely manner in accordance with established practices and standards throughout the facility on a set rotation and or as requested by staff and department.
- Accurately tracks medication, specimen, patient activity in EMR or other designated software system
- Assist in care and maintains equipment and supplies utilized during transports. Cleans equipment after use and returns to proper storage areas when no longer needed
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and personnel. Adheres to established safety and infection control practices and standards.
- Greet and provides wayfinding information and direction to patients, visitors, vendors, and a variety of clients.
- Provide patient escort as needed. May assist with transport of patients throughout the facility via walker, wheelchair, or stretcher to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, and other equipment.
- Assist patients with entering and exiting the building, including light-moderate one-person transfer assist from or to wheelchairs or stretchers per established practices and standards.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel.
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience with multiline telephones and electronic medical records
- BLS is required within 90 days of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: OSHA Exposure Risk Category 2
- Efficient oral and written communication
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting (50lbs),
- Ability to negotiate stairs frequently
- Ability to transport patients in wheelchairs or stretcher up to 250 lbs. dependently and independently
- Ability to use repetitive motions such as grasping, fine manipulating, medium dexterity, forearm/wrist rotation movement area used daily.
