Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for logistics and customer service? We’re looking for a Transport Planner to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient, cost-effective delivery operations that meet and exceed customer expectations.

About the Role

As a Transport Planner, you’ll be at the heart of our logistics operations, balancing customer requirements with plant availability and commercial strategy. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth, timely deliveries and maintain high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify customer delivery needs and optimise company resources for efficient dispatch.

  • Negotiate delivery schedules to benefit both customer and company.

  • Prioritise deliveries during supply constraints and coordinate with weighbridge teams.

  • Monitor and manage daily delivery programmes, keeping customers informed.

  • Accurately process and amend customer orders and dispatch comments.

  • Investigate and resolve queries from customers and hauliers.

  • Build strong relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.

  • Manage customer complaints professionally, escalating when necessary.

  • Produce Order Centre reports and maintain clear communication using desktop text.

Key Relationships

Internal:
Customer Excellence Manager, Customer Service Lead, Weighbridge Clerks, Sales Department, Credit Control.

External:
Customers, Suppliers, Franchisee Hauliers, Contractor Hauliers.

Decision-Making Authority

You’ll have the autonomy to accept or decline customer requirements based on plant availability and commercial strategy, with escalation to the Logistics Manager or Supervisors when needed.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.

  • Proficiency in logistics systems and order management tools.

  • A proactive, customer-focused mindset.
