$20.40 - $30.60Essential Functions
• Evaluates new patients with cancer for financial barriers to care and investigates insurance benefits and potential gaps of insurance coverage. Considers options to assist the patient in their financial needs.
• Develops a financial plan with patients and their families and serves as a patient advocate during the process of their treatment.
• Works with patients and develops resolutions to potential patient financial out of pocket exposure and helps them plan and overcome these obstacles.
• Responsible for patient satisfaction and identifies potential needs with regards to financial resources such as enrollment with Foundation and Grant Assistance. Maintains records of these financial referrals to track and monitor these funds.
• Pre-screen eligible patients who need assistance with COBRA premiums.
• Refer patients to Oncology Nurse Navigators, Social Workers, PAP Team when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate reimbursement/financial reports for each patient participating in patient assistance programs.
• Organizes education for the community regarding Financial Navigation and the services provided.
• Assists with development of policies, procedures, and standards reflective of current financial practices.
• Serves as an advocate within the community for awareness of current trends and fluctuations within the insurance market and champions oncology resources/services.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or 4 years of insurance related experience required. Strong understanding and experience with; government safety net programs, Health Insurance policies, external assistance programs and Demonstrated experience in addressing patient financial issues Must be proficient with medical terminology and be familiar with clinical considerations as these relate to oncology services. Extensive analytical skills and focus on details. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Microsoft Excel, Word, Epic experience preferred. Databases, hospital registration, billing and clinical systems preferred.
